ABOUT ELIZABETH FIELD
ELIZABETH FIELD holds a DMA in Historical
Performance Practice from Cornell University, having formerly studied
with Oscar Shumsky and Joseph Silverstein. She has held professorships
at Sacramento State University of California, the University of California
at Davis, and is currently an adjunct professor at George Washington University.
AS A SOLOIST AND CHAMBER MUSICIAN Elizabeth Field performs
regularly with her chamber groups, ArcoVoce, The Eisenstadt Trio, and
as a frequent guest artist with the 4 Nations Ensemble. She also collaborates
with her many highly acclaimed colleagues and is currently performing
several programs with harpsichordist, Charlotte Mattax. Ms. Field was
a founding member of the Van Swieten Quartet, which performed from 1989-1998
and was the violinist for Brandywine Baroque from 2000-2006. Her newly
formed group, The Vivaldi Project, featuring Ms. Field as leader and soloist
will debut on November 28, 2006 in Washington DC. She can currently be
heard on Hungaraton Records in a world premiere recording of Quantz flute
quartets with baroque flutist Mary Oleskiewicz, a recording with ArcoVoce
of music ranging from Hildegard von Bingen to Shostakovitch and in several
recordings on the Dorian label with Brandywine Baroque.
AS AN ORCHESTRAL MUSICIAN Ms. Field
has been concertmaster of the Bethlehem Bach Choir since 2001 and for
nearly a decade was concertmaster of the Masterwork Orchestra of New Jersey,
Carnegie Hall Series under the direction of David Briskin. She has been
guest concertmaster for numerous organizations including The Washington
Bach Consort, Opera Lafayette, the North Carolina Opera Co. The Washington
Choral Society and The Washington Chamber Symphony. From 1982 - 1992 She
performed regularly with the Orpheus & St. Luke's Chamber Orchestras,
the Handel & Haydn Society, The Classical Band, the New York Chamber Orchestra,
the NY City Opera, Philharmonia Virtuosi & the Brooklyn Philharmonic.
From 1982-1991, Ms. Field performed and recorded extensively for Deutsche
Grammophon with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra
AS A CLINICIAN Dr. Field has coached
student & professional performers in the U.S. and abroad, notably at the
Juilliard School, Duke University, the Mannes College of Music, the Universities
of Maryland, Illinois and Iowa, the York Early Music Festival, the University
of Washington, and the Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin.
